Case Study-Success Story from Cameroon

AHA’s nutrition team makes a special trip to Mandjou to meet with Hamadou Nourou, a nine year old boy they had met eight months ago. AHA came to know Hamadou during a HIV/AIDS and nutrition campaign conducted in Kwele village in Cameroon where refugees from the Central African Republic have settled. Hamadou was one of 93 malnourished children identified during the campaign and admitted at Belita II Health Center.

Appeal for Somalia

Our assessment of the Somali drought indicates that children are most affected by the lack of food and nutritious meals as the magnitude of the Somali famine continues to grow. Food, water and shelter are among the highly and urgently needed. Help us save lives by contributing to AHA’s supplementary food, water and shelter provision programs in Mogadishu and on the Ethiopia-Somali boarder.

Security Risks in the Sudan

Recent clash in the Blue Nile State of the Sudan has forced AHA to halt its operation in the area and evacuate its staff. In South Kordofan where AHA’s regional office is based, our staff came under gun fire attack on Friday forcing them to seek refuge across the border in Kurmuk, Ethiopia.
The sudden security deterioration has forced fellow humanitarian actors and residents to vacate the area. AHA has since established minimal satellite contact with the area and has learned our office was among many looted following the fighting on Friday. Although the extent of the damage is unknown at present, AHA has learned that one operations vehicle has been taken along with office equipments and furniture.
